Subject: Permission to copy article from Associates

I would like permission to copy the article "We Don't Just Check Out Books" and publish this in the next OALT/ABO (Ontario Association of Library Technicians / Association des Bibliotechniciens de l'Ontario) newsletter.

Thanking you in advance,

Marina

[Editor: Lydia Collins, author of "We Don't Just Check Out Books"(Associates, 2005 March), has given permission to reprint her article. I would also appreciate if you mention the article first appeared in Associates. Lydia's article has addressed real concerns and is sparking interest among the Associates readers. Thank you for asking permission.]

Wendee,

I have read:*We Don't Just Check Out Books: Library 'Paraprofessionals' And Their Increased Workload* by Lydia Collins, Stanislaus Library California State University, and it strikes me that this is a common call from all over the world at the moment. Some are more fortunate than others, as here in the UK with the new framework of qualifications. Perhaps there might be a new article here for July asking if we can get this topic on to the next IFLA conference agenda. Now I know IFLA is the BIG professional's conference, and I have never been, but it is something which they should discuss. Do pass on my best wishes to her, and tell her if she wants to email talk about it I am happy to do so.

Jim

Dear Wendee,

I finally got a chance to look at the latest Associates and saw that you needed this back issue "Letters". Hope this will fill in some of the gap!

Subject: Missing associates

Hi Jim and Wendee,

I have Vol. 1 no.2, Nov. 1994 and Vol. 3, no.1, July 1996 in print. If you still need copies, I could provide a print copy that you could scan or re-type for the archives. Let me know if you need them. Also the "Letters to the Editor" from Vol. 4, No.1, July 97.

… I mailed out the copies for you. Please let me know you received them.

Thanks,
Ruth

[Editor: Jim Clark, Assistant Editor, and I give heartfelt thanks and accolades to both Mary Beth and Ruth for taking the time to send us missing articles for the back issues of Associates. Many back issues of Associates were lost in November 2004 when the server holding these issues terminated all Associates holdings. The back issues are now almost complete! We lack the following and would greatly appreciate if someone has a copy and would send it to us.]
