*LETTERS TO THE EDITORS* From: Fay Hayward (fh@Omega.Bercol.BM) Date: March 22, 1966 Re: Johnston article Just received the latest issue of _Associates_ and must say that I thought Jim Johnston's article, "View from the Back Room" was very funny. Is it common editorial policy to put the curmudgeonly/humourous articles at the back of the magazine? I have noticed that most of my favorite periodicals seem to have adopted this format. Maybe Jim will become the *humourist laureate* to library support staff, just as Will Manley is to library professionals. [Editors' note: For you Jim Johnston fans, Jim is considering writing more humorous pieces for us. We hope we'll have something for an upcoming issue.] ******************** From: Andrew Williamson, BUBL Information Service (cijs26@ccsun.strath.ac.uk) Date: February 29, 1996 Subject: ASSOCIATES and the BUBL Information Service Dear Editor, As you are probably aware, the BUBL Information Service carries archives of the Associates journal. We are currently writing to all publishers of material which we carry in section E2 of BUBL, and wish to confirm that you are happy to continue having Associates on BUBL. [Editors' note: We are still available via BUBL. For more information, check our Archives page in this issue.] ******************** From: Celeste A. Blanco (ceb@abs.nlc-bnc.ca) Date: May 23, 1996 Subject: International exchange programs Would anyone be interested in writing about acquisitions through international exchange programs? We would like to learn about policy and experience within this program. Thank you. [Editor's note: An article on an international exchange program will be appearing in the November issue of _ASSOCIATES_.] ******************** From: Judy Marynell, Library Assistant (Cataloging) Date: 7/1/96 2:18pm Subject: Associates Electronic Journal Hello all! My colleague here in technical services is subscribed to _Associates Electronic Journal_. There must have been some kind of problem with the transmission of it because she did not receive the conference/teleconference schedule part of it and received other parts twice. Can anyone out there send that part to her or tell us how to get it? We circulate it around our department for everyone to read. Thanks for your help. You have brightened my days. [Editor's note: Ah, those "technical difficulties". Everyone should finally have received last issue's calendar.] ********************* From: Jim Jackson (J.G.Jackson@exeter.ac.uk) Date: April 17, 1996 Re: International Library Support Day Just a note to wish you and everyone else connected with _ASSOCIATES_ a very Happy International Library Support Day!!!!!!!!!!!!! She says fine - but that I check with you. Oh yes, I would be reposting it to a list limited to members of the league of Women Votes nationwide, lwvtopics. [Editors' note: _ASSOCIATES_ is always willing to let people repost any item published, assuming you have the auhor's permission. We do request that you cite us as the source.]
