SUPPORT STAFF RECOGNIZED
The Support Staff Section of the Connecticut Library Association (C.L.A.S.S.)
is proud to announce that Linda Patrick-Preyer of Sacred Heart University has
been awarded the association's Support Staff Person of the Year Award. Ms. Patrick-Preyer
is the Cataloging Supervisor at the Ryan-Matura Library and was nominated by
her colleagues for her "strong sense of commitment to the University and
her unfailing work ethic". She played a central role in the library's conversion
process, handling the job with composure, tact and a smile.
C.L.A.S.S.'s Supporter of Support Staff award was won by Irene Nolan, Head of
Public Services at the Hamden Public Library. Ms. Nolan was nominated for her
efforts in training her library assistants in reference skills so they would
be better able to serve their patrons. She also "champions the efforts
of the support staff by safeguarding that the work we do reflects our position".
She also insures that her support staff is not "dumped on with all the
non-librarian type jobs".
Ms. Patrick-Preyer and Ms. Nolan received their awards at the Connecticut Library
Association's annual conference on April 3, 2001 at the Waterbury Sheraton.
C.L.A.S.S. congratulates them on their outstanding contributions to the library
community and wishes them continued success.
