Letters To The Editor

Subject: Letter to the Editors

For the first time since Associates began in 1994, I have finally had the pleasure of sitting back and simply reading an issue "cover to cover" like the rest of the library world. And what a pleasure it was.

No more looking at articles as they came across my desk with an eye to editing them or sending them to other editors. No more looking at them as it was time to publish with an eye to making sure that the spacing and punctuation was correct, or the font type was Arial or Times New Roman.

I think back to the very first issue when I was twisting arms and calling in favors to make sure we had enough articles to publish. Then I read this issue and can't stop smiling at what a polished, professional thing we have created. Kudos to Wendee Eyler and the rest of the editors, and to the wonderful contributors - past, present, and future. I already look forward to the next issue.

[Editor: Thanks, Kendall!]

[paraphrased] What's going on here?

[Editor: Unfortunately, a hacker broke into the UCR listserv and sent out junk. Although I am not certain about a virus or worm being included, you may need to check your computer for a possible virus (check the Norton anti-virus website at www.symantec.com). I apologize that this has happened. I have taken all subscribers' names/addresses off the listserv so that this will not happen again. This means, however, if you want to unsubscribe, you may receive a response that you are not subscribed, which will be confusing. If you cannot unsubscribe automatically, please send your unsubscribe e-mail to rivwe@citrus.ucr.edu. I will take care of you!]
