About Unshelved!

[Editor: Jenifer is referring to a review by Julia D. Ree, titled "Unshelved: A Comic View of Life in a Library" <http://associates.ucr.edu/1106rree.htm> in the November 2006 issue of ASSOCIATES. If you haven't had a chance to read it, please do!]

Wendee, No.1-14 arrived fine. No.15-18 must not have arrived with information. No. 15 and 18 showed with only the email contact and no text.

Wendee, this page appears to be blank, except for the heading, as does no.15 (Review - Brooks). At least, that's how they came across to me. All other 16 seem to be OK.

[Editor: Thank you for writing me about this. The idea from James Quinn, University of Illinois at Chicago, who suggested putting article numbers in the subject line of emails for the issue helped everyone to identify exactly which emails were sent as blanks. Apparently my email system decided to go on the blink as I was sending out ASSOCIATES. It sure looked fine when I mailed it out, plus the copy in my "sent" file showed full text, but the text was chopped off after I pressed the Send Key for mailings #15 and #18. I'm very disappointed that this happened. I'll figure out someway that this doesn't happen for the March 2007 issue! I hope.]

Subject: Viewing Nov. 2006 issue

Hi, How can I view the electronic library support staff journal, Nov. 2006. Thanks.

[Editor: You can view all issues of ASSOCIATES starting from the ASSOCIATES homepage at http://associates.ucr.edu. To see the current issue, click on "Current issue." The current month, year, volume, and number is indicated. To see a past issue, click on "Past issues." This will lead you to the "Archives and Back Issues" page. You can then select to see articles by title, author, or issue. To see the November 2006 issue, look for the year "2006" in the left column and click on "vol. 13, #2 - November." Thank you for asking!]

Subject: library cartoons

Hi there,

About a year ago I began working at a library and recently decided to publish a cartoon blog. I posted my first blog just last month and soon after, a co-worker of mine pointed out the online cartoon "Unshelved." I hadn't heard of it before, but think it's a great collection of work and inspiring, too! I saw Julia Ree's review online <http://associates.ucr.edu/1106rree.htm> and thought you might like to see what I've created. The biggest challenge I've encountered so far is producing material with universal ideas that everyone can appreciate, not just library employees. Here's the web address for my cartoon blog...it's still a work in progress and in its infancy stages, but if you get a chance, check it out and let me know what you think:

librarycartoons.blogspot.com

Thanks,

Jayson
