"Help! I have a career report--and I need some extra resources to liven it up!"

At this time of the year, I'm sure that many of us encounter patrons who come up with this plea. It would be very handy to be able to point out one source that would supply names, addresses, descriptions, and even Websites.

And it would be even nicer if the resources mentioned were free--or at least inexpensive.

Well....thanks to the editors of the Ferguson Publishing Company, such a resource is now available.

This particular book is one I can recommend from both personal use--and from use with patrons. It's in its third edition now--and has been tried and found to be very useful.

In this volume you will find contact information for "more than 660 organizations and associations that provide free or inexpensive ($10 or less) career information". Basically, there are four very clear sections of information lists.

The first is the Index and Guide to Resources. This is an alphabetical listing of topics covered--beginning with Accounting and ending with Zoology.

The next section is an alphabetical list of the companies or organizations covered. This is more detailed...providing the name and acronym of the organization, mailing address, phone number, FAX number, and Web address--and a summary of the materials available. It's succinct--and clear.

The next section lists career sites on the World Wide Web--and a basic explanation of what the group that is listed can provide.

The final section is a list of related reference books that will provide even more information for the researcher. All in all, while this is not a large volume in size, the amount of content and the quality of usefulness are definitely worth your inspection!
