To and From the Editor

There are a number of conferences, state and nationally, being held in the first half of this year. A few are listed on the Contents page. When you attend a conference there can be number of sessions on offer from and vendor stands to visit. However, there is lot more going on. To get the maximum benefit from attending a conference, have a look or a relook, at Tinker Massey’s article in the previous issue, titled, ‘It’s the Silly Season again’.

In the last issue there was an article about paraprofessional awards in the US, Canada and Australia. The US award we mentioned was ‘LJ’s Paraprofessional of the Year’. Since our last issue, many paraprofessional members of the library community contacted the Library Journal to have the award’s name changed to ‘LJ’s Paralibrarian of the Year’. Their efforts have proved successful, with the award being renamed. The winner of the ‘LJ’s 2011 Paralibrarian of the Year’ is Gilda Ramos, Patchogue-Medford Library, NY.

Congratulations Gilda.
