Paraprofessional of the Year: The Library Journal (LJ) Paraprofessional of the Year for 2013 is Laura Poe from the Athens-Limestone Public Library in Athens, AL. Laura undertakes a variety of tasks at the library and has initiated many of the programs now offered. From time to time significant weather or other events take place in our communities. Has your library ever been asked to take on a different role, in addition to its usual role, when such events have occurred? Also, have staff been asked to act in a different capacity?
Unfortunately, I didn’t get the response I was hoping for. Only one actually, from Gerry Deyermond of Andover, Massachusetts. It tells how the library/staff ‘stepped up’ in their community’s time of need.
