Message to NYSLAA Members

Nancy Davis
Public Relations Committee Chair
University at Albany

Good day fellow NYSLAA members!

For everyone who loves NYSLAA as I do, I would like to encourage you to reach out to your associates who are not members and share with them details about this wonderful organization, NYSLAA. Even if you don’t work at your local library, why not talk to the library assistants there about NYSLAA the next time you visit? You can give them an informative handout found at Also, the application to join NYSLAA can be found at the following link on the website Why not print some and give them to the folks you talk to?

If you have any suggestions on how to reach out to new members, I gladly welcome them! Or better yet – think about joining me on the Public Relations Committee.

Your 2014 conference committee is planning a really exciting conference in beautiful Saratoga Springs in June. It is loaded with great technological workshops, some interesting tours, and amazing venues for the mixer and dinner. The tours on Wednesday will concentrate on Saratoga history and the legendary healing spring waters of Saratoga.

I would like you all to think about asking your co-workers to contribute towards a basket for the raffle. Homemade items are especially welcome, but every donation is very much appreciated. Please do what you can to help reduce the cost for the 2015 conference! The conference committee is working diligently to obtain as many raffle items as we can, but we can always use your help!

I would also like to challenge everyone to bring ONE new member (or more) with you this year! I really know how hard that is, but you know they will love it as much as we do!

The Community Outreach Committee is continuing our tradition of including our furry friends, and will be collecting donations for the Saratoga County Animal Shelter as well. , and you can follow this link to see if the shelter has special needs for donations: There will be a jug for monetary donations on the registration table for both the Shelters of Saratoga and the Saratoga County Animal Shelter. Again, thank you very much for your consideration of these two valuable local community resources. We will be having the lottery tree as usual, so don’t forget that for every $1 lottery ticket you bring you will get one raffle ticket toward the basket of your choice, or if you choose the ticket tree.

Many thanks to those who sold and bought the February Fundraising Daily Number lottery tickets! You’re the bomb!

Please consider a nomination for the 2014 Craig Koste & Ray Murray Awards and for the scholarships

Looking forward to seeing you all in June! The conference committee is very excited about you joining us. Early Bird Registration is open. You can now use pay pal to register for the conference. This is an example of your suggestions being heard and acted upon. Keep those ideas coming!
