Letters to the Editors

Subject: ASSOCIATES Website

On receiving notification of the new Website, I immediately checked it out. It looks wonderful! Although I have not read issues "cover to cover", I have enjoyed receiving ASSOCIATES by email. I think I will prefer accessing future issues on the WEB as it will be easier to navigate.

The only problems I had with the Website were links that were not found. I was unable to send my survey form and at least some of the buttons at the bottom of the screen took me to a "not found" message.

Keep up the good work!

[From the Editors: We have cleaned up the links and everything should be working now. Whew!]

Kendall,
Enjoyed your informative article in the July/August issue of _Library Mosaics_.

Certainly appreciate the efforts of you and the rest of your team in putting out _ASSOCIATES_. To my very non-professional eye, I would say the journal is of a very high standard. It is a pleasure to read. It is my personal opinion that the editing and proof-reading skills are excellent. I look forward to receiving it, and always print it out and read it from cover to cover, before placing it in the Bermuda College Library's staff room.

I am in the midst of writing a short piece to submit to _ASSOCIATES_. It's about a miniature hotel library which I came across while touring Newfoundland earlier this summer.

[From the Editors: Fay’s article appears in this issue.]

From: Paul Schmidt <Paul-Schmidt@library.wustl.edu> Date: Mon, 27 Jul 1998 Subject: Re: Announcements

I have noticed though that it is harder know with the listserv to find that these messages come from the electronic journal "Associates" new address system, like you could with the older address. I had to look several times to know that this and other messages were from "Associates", and not just other regular messages on the libsup-l listserv.

I do not know if anything can be done to clarify this or now. Maybe the new system does not give you such an option.

Thanks for your help.

[From the Editors: We are going to put Associates: <title> in the subject line of each posting. With luck that will help.]

Just to let you know how much I appreciated the touching candor of Diana Dyal's article about shared sick leave in the state of Kansas. Wishing her well & all the best to the ASSOCIATES. I look forward to all the articles. Thank you.

YAY! Thanks for this -- if you could provide this url instead of individual e-mails in the future, that would be WONDERFUL!

The page looks great, congratulations!

Hello!
I just visited the site & tried to fill out & submit the survey, but whatever address it's supposed to go to wasn't working. I'll try again in a couple of days -- glad you've set up this site!

[From the Editors: Everything should be working now. Please let us know if any of you have problems.]

From: "McGranahan, Jamen" <JMcGranahan@trevecca.edu> Date: Wed, 14 Oct 1998 Subject: new email list

To whom it may concern:
There is a new email list that I'm sponsoring for paraprofessionals in the state of Tennessee. Below, you will find the posting I had placed on LIBSUP-L and TLA-L. I was hoping I could get it published in Associates as well. Thanks!

To all the Librarians behind the Librarians in Tennessee, I would like to announce a new email list:

TNPARAS@EGROUPS.COM

This email list is provided for paraprofessionals who want to discuss current issues within the Library world within the state of Tennessee. Of course, others are welcome but please be warned that the focus will be primarily on issues within the state of Tennessee.

To subscribe, send a blank message to tnparas-subscribe@egroups.com or go to this e-group's home page at <http://www.eGroups.com/list/tnparas>

And some more kudos to our writers (which were forwarded on):

To Joy: "I enjoyed reading your editorial re your experience in setting up the Associates web page. Congratulations."

To Katie: "Great column! My personal favorite quote is from Charleton Heston. That one really ripped me up!"

"I just wanted to drop you a quick note to say that I thought your last ASSOCIATES column was hysterical. Thanks for putting a smile on my face."
